Dear ,
I would like to take this opportunity to send you a detailed presentation of myself and my experience as a nanny. I would also like to inform you that I am available throughout the week, on an occasional basis, as well as on weekends.
I am an experienced and passionate nanny, who enjoys working with children of all ages. With a solid background in childcare, I am adaptable to the specific needs of each child.
Skills:
Childcare: Experience with babies, including newborns and twins, as well as with older children.
Household tasks: Cleaning, laundry, meal preparation.
Homework assistance: Academic support for older children.
Professional Experiences:
In Algeria: Caring for newborns, including twins, from the moment they left the hospital. I provided vital support to a mother suffering from postpartum depression.
In Belgium: I have worked with several families of diverse nationalities (Indian, French, Italian, Turkish, African, Dutch) in Brussels, Leuven, Stockel, Tervuren, Schaerbeek, Anderlecht, and Court-Saint-Étienne-Louvain.
I arrived in Belgium five years ago and started my journey with a few hours of occasional babysitting for a 4-year-old in Wezembeek-Oppem. The child’s Italian mother was a busy professional with little time due to demanding meetings and work commitments. My role was to engage the child in interesting activities and suggest games that foster creativity and intelligence, such as building train tracks, trucks, and using Kapla blocks. Meal preparation and cleaning were secondary tasks, with the child always being the priority. For balanced meals, I often used recipe books, and we had fun with cooking lessons, making waffles, pancakes, etc.
At the end of each week, I would have a discussion with the child's mother to talk about various aspects and rules to follow. I also worked with two Turkish families, caring for a 6-month-old baby and a newborn. I took sleep-training courses, learning to establish balanced schedules to help children develop better sleeping habits. I also focused on ensuring the baby’s hygiene.
One of the most challenging experiences I had was caring for newborn twins in Algeria without the presence of the mother. The babies had been hospitalized for several weeks after birth due to illness, yet I managed to handle the situation well, gaining invaluable experience. Fatma Ouafek can provide further information about this experience.
Working with Claire Pejean’s family was another significant experience, caring for her three children in Schaerbeek for more than 7 months. I would pick up Margot from daycare, prepare meals, assist with homework, clean, and drop the children off at their activities like music and karate. I believe it’s important to inform parents about their children’s development, which is why I suggest a weekly meeting to discuss these matters.
I love communication and had the pleasure of working with a family from the UK, picking up their children from the IB International School in Tervuren. This was a fantastic experience, especially since I biked 4 hours daily, which was a great physical activity. Assisting with language learning was also a rewarding part of the job. I speak Arabic, French, and English, and I noticed that integrating anglophone families in Belgium can be challenging, especially since most daycare centers are French-speaking and finding English schools is quite expensive.
